Initially, traditional production processes were employed. Everything was entirely handmade. Molds were coated with fresh layers of clay, assembled, painted, and fired in traditional Tuscan wood-fired ovens. This is how the story of SBORDONI, one of the largest Italian companies operating in the bathroom fittings sector and illuminating the rising Roman industry, began.
100 Years of Beauty
By 1939, SBORDONI’s fame had spread so widely that it was recognized with two historical accolades. The first was a patent granted by the Savoy Royal House on August 8, 1939, for the reproduction of the Savoy coat of arms at the Civita Castellana production plant. The second was the publication of the founder’s name, Alessandro, in the section dedicated to ceramic producers in the Italian Biographical Encyclopedia. This is why the HYGIA VITREX logo features a stylized Savoy crown.
The common thread among the brand’s washbasin units, bathtubs, faucets, wall coverings and accessories is the craftsmanship that stands out at first glance, the perfect harmony of materials and forms, and a timeless style that has always combined beauty with functionality for nearly 100 years.
